Established in 1829, the University of Cape Town is located in one of the world’s most beautiful geographical landscapes. Its vibrant campus reflects the diversity of South Africa, with a dynamic, international community committed to being the best in Africa. The Global Academy programme is designed to inspire students to be global citizens by exposing them to new cultures, building connections across borders, challenging their perspectives and enabling them to develop a rich understanding of the world.

Through their engagement and immersion with local communities, students reflect on their own society and their interconnectivity to the rest of the world while reflecting on the values of justice and social responsibility. The Global Academy courses Afropolitanism, Social Justice and Social Entrepreneurship, present comprehensive insights into South African history, politics, culture, social justice and social entrepreneurship, and discuss major issues facing the country, continent and the world today
